Created under the supervision of the ministry for Mobility and Public Works in 2004, the Verkéiersverbond aims to provide public transport passengers with a comfortable experience and to encourage active and sustainable mobility.

It works closely with its partners: the Luxembourg-City transport services (Autobus de la Ville de Luxembourg, AVL), the Luxembourgish railway company (Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois, SNCFL), the Luxembourgish bus operator association (Fédération Luxembourgeoise des Exploitants d’Autobus et d’Autocars, FLEAA), the regional transport services network (Régime Général des Transports Routiers, RGTR), the inter-comunal transport services of the Esch-sur-Alzette canton (Transport Intercommunal de Personnes dans le Canton d’Esch-sur-Alzette, TICE) and Luxtram.

In terms of public transport, the Verkéiersverbond is the direct adviser to the minister for Mobility and Public Works. Either on its own initiative or at the Minister’s request, it records the needs of travellers and makes suggestions on timetables, routes and fares.
