THE FIRST MVOS PICNIC IS WELL ATTENDED

On Wednesday, in the middle of the cycling season, the Verkéiersverbond organised this first big public picnic as part of its “Mam Vëlo op d’Schaff” campaign. With summer temperatures, many cycling enthusiasts and people involved in the #MVOS2019 campaign met in the Parc Central in Kirchberg on the big lawn in front of the KYOSK and spent a relaxed lunch break together, despite the light showers that had fallen that morning.
The first 100 to have cycled to get to this event were given a lovely picnic blanket by way of thanking them for choosing to use their bikes. There was a variety of different activities on offer during this lunch break – Teqball, beach volley and pétanque – which gave everyone who came along a chance to get to know one another.
The Verkéiersverbond’s “Mam Vëlo op d’Schaff oder an d’Schoul” campaign will carry on until 31 July 2019 and it is still possible to register until 10 July 2019. What does the campaign aim to achieve? A shift away from using private cars as people are encouraged instead to use bikes and opt for multimobility. Teams whose members get on their bikes to go to work or to school for at least a fortnight will qualify for the big prize draw and so have a chance of winning one of the many team prizes worth a total of €16,000.
