School lines in the Southern region from 5 January 2026: new operator, new numbers, same routes

On 01 December 2025

From Monday, 5 January 2026, school transport to secondary education institutions in the southern region, previously provided by the TICE (Transports intercommunaux du canton d’Esch-sur-Alzette), will be integrated into the national RGTR network (Régime général des transports routiers).

This change of operator is part of measures aimed at optimising the entire public transport network in the south of the country. This approach, implemented in several phases and focused on multimodal mobility, seeks to significantly enhance the attractiveness and efficiency of the existing offer in order to meet both current mobility needs and future developments. The objective is to encourage and facilitate the use of existing public transport (bus and train) and future services (a rapid tram linking the south to the centre of the country) in a sector undergoing transformation due to various factors (technological, economic, energy-related and societal).

A change in numbering with no impact on bus routes

This transition will take place seamlessly: timetables, routes and service quality remain unchanged. Pupils and their families can rely on the same level of reliability as before. Only the numbering of the lines will change to align with the RGTR system.

The following schools are affected by the renumbering changes:

  • Esch-sur-Alzette & Esch/Belval:
    • Lycée de Garçons
    • Lycée Hubert Clement
    • Lycée Guillaume Kroll
    • Lycée technique Lallange
    • École privée Marie-Consolatrice
    • Lycée Bel-Val
  • Bascharage: Lycée technique pour professions de santé
  • Pétange/Lamadelaine: Lycée Mathias Adam
  • Differdange: École internationale EIDE, Lycée Mathias Adam – Annexe Jenker
  • Dudelange: Lycée Nic Biever, Lycée Nic Biever – Annexe Alliance

Students and parents can access the new numbering as well as real-time information on school routes via a dedicated school bus section on mobiliteit.lu or directly through the mobile app.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth, all schools will be informed before the end-of-year holidays about the changes coming into effect on Monday, 5 January 2026.
