Harmonisation and digitalisation of cross-border and 1st class tickets

We are modernising the sale of cross-border RegioZone and 1st class tickets by switching to fully digital solutions. Very soon, the mKaart and the purchase of paper tickets on board buses or at CFL sales centres will no longer be available. With the CFL mobile app, you can now buy your tickets easily and anytime.

Luxembourg is proud to be the first country in the world to offer nationwide free public transport for everyone. Your travels have never been easier: just hop onto a bus, train or tram and you’re good to go!

Since March 1, 2020, public transport has been free throughout the entire territory of Luxembourg. You no longer need a ticket to travel by tram, bus, or train (except in 1st class). Cross-border tickets have been reduced in price, and cross-border commuters benefit from more attractive fares! Free travel ends at the border, so you will need a cross-border ticket or subscription to travel beyond the Grand Duchy. Free travel also applies to 2nd class train journeys to and from Athus (B), Audun-le-Tiche (F), and Volmerange-les-Mines (F).
