New composition of the Transport Users’ Committee

On 09 April 2024

Amidst ongoing efforts to enhance public transportation services, the Transport Users’ Committee sees a fresh wave of energy with the recent appointment of its new members in November 2023.

The Users’ Committee serves as a platform for information dissemination and constructive discussion concerning matters pertaining to the organisation and operation of public transportation.

In this way, the Committee is able to advocate for the interests of commuters to the relevant authorities overseeing public transport, whilst also articulating viewpoints and offering suggestions for enhancements on forthcoming projects and initiatives within this domain.

This opportunity is targeted towards individuals who frequently use public transportation in Luxembourg and neighbouring regions, and who desire to play an active role in the advancement and enhancement of transport networks.

Following a call for applications in spring 2023, 12 primary members and 12 alternate members were randomly selected in mid-July of the same year. The selection process was guided by predetermined criteria, including age, gender, and background. Thus, the new Committee assumes the responsibilities of its predecessor and commences its third term since its establishment in 2007. Present members have the option to prolong their mandate once for an additional five years before a subsequent call for applications is initiated. The Committee is mandated to convene at least every six months.

After three preparatory meetings with the Public Transport Administration, during which the responsibilities and scope of collaboration were deliberated, the Committee conducted an internal election for the roles of President and Vice-President on 26 October 2023. Ms Marguerite Kugener assumed the position of President, with Mr Ernad Rafetov Agović elected as Vice-President of the Committee. The complete members’ list is accessible at www.mobiliteit.lu/comite-des-usagers.

The Ministry of Mobility and Public Works extends its best wishes to the new members for a successful orientation period and anticipates collaborating with them in the future.
